Nitin Sawhney comes ot the Hall to launch his latest album 'Last Days of Meaning'. This very special concert will also feature James Taylor performing a Royal Albert Hall commission by Nitin Sawhney on the Hall's great organ. Nitin Sawhney is widely regarded as one of the most influential and versatile creative talents alive today. Fresh from scoring the BBC's new landmark series, 'Human Planet' as well as the hugely successful videogame, 'Enslaved', this latter-day Renaissance man is firmly established as a world-class producer, songwriter, DJ, multi-instrumentalist, orchestral composer and cultural pioneer. 'Last Days of Meaning' sees a marked change from previous albums in that it follows the narrative of a single old man alone in a room. The character is terrified of the outside world and full of self-loathing and resentment for everyone he has ever encountered in his embittered life. The only ray of hope is a cassette recorder with a tape containing the songs and instrumental work of the album. The concert will also feature a new Royal Albert Hall commission for the Hall's great organ. Written by Nitin and inspired by his new album, the commission will be performed by his school friend and arguably the UK's foremost and most prominent organist, James Taylor of the James Taylor Quartet. Nitin will also be joined by a string quintet and key members of his band including Martyn Kaine on drums, Aref Durvesh on tabla and dholak, Ashwin Srinivasan on flute, Ian Burdge on cello and vocals, Tina Grace, Nicki Wells & Lucita Jules on vocals with further guests to be announced.
